   Meet in a public place

   Choose a busy spot like a market, shop or bank in daylight. Bring a friend for valuable items.

   Inspect before you pay

   Check the item works. For boats, motors and vehicles, take a test run and ask for proof of ownership.

   Never pay in advance

   LocalList does not handle payments, deposits or delivery. Be careful of anyone asking for money before you see the item.

   Keep chats on LocalList

   Use in-app messages until you trust the other person. Your phone number stays hidden unless you choose to show it.

5. 5

   Report anything suspicious

   Use the Report button on any listing. Moderators review every report.
